GPS

What does “GPS lost” mean?

The phone has no usable position: the signal is jammed, blocked (tunnels, dense buildings), or Location is off. Distance keeps counting from your steps, and after the activity you can rebuild the missing part of the track.

What does “GPS looks spoofed” mean?

The phone reports a position that doesn't match how you move: it jumps far away, or stands still while you walk. Someone nearby may be faking GPS signals. Lima Track compares every position with your steps and the phone's motion, keeps counting distance from your steps, and lets you rebuild that part afterwards.

What do “good” and “weak” GPS mean?

Good: the phone knows where you are within a few metres, about once a second. Weak: positions are usable but imprecise, or come from Wi-Fi and cell towers. You can check the signal before you start with Check GPS signal in Settings; nothing is recorded.

Rebuilt tracks

Can I see a rebuild without GPS failing?

Yes. When History is empty, tap Try a sample activity: it adds a made-up 30-minute run with 6 minutes of lost GPS. Open it and tap Review and save to see the rebuilt track. The sample can't be saved to Health; delete it when you're done.

How is a track rebuilt?

From your steps, the phone's heading and your stride length, starting at the last good position and fitted to the next one. Lima Track learns your stride from stretches of at least 2 minutes and 100 m on foot with good GPS, so it gets better after your first few activities.

Why is the rebuilt track only an estimate?

It isn't a satellite fix. Small errors in heading and stride add up over time, so a short loss comes out close to the real route and a long one less so. Rebuilt parts are dashed on the map, marked in GPX files, and counted in the distance.

What are the purple parts on the map?

A rough estimate. There was no good GPS fix nearby, so the shape comes from your steps and heading and the position only from Wi-Fi or cell towers (the app shows how far off it may be).

Which track should I save?

The review screen recommends one. Rebuilt track when GPS failed; GPS track to keep the route as recorded; No track to save only time, distance and climb when there is no route worth keeping.

Recording

Which permissions does Lima Track need?

Location (While Using the App) to record your route, and Motion & Fitness to count steps and rebuild the route. Both are required. Health is optional: it lets the app save workouts and read Apple Watch heart rate; without it you can still export GPX. If you turned one off, open the iPhone Settings app → Apps → Lima Track.

Health never tells apps whether reading is allowed. If heart rate doesn't appear, check the Health app → Sharing → Apps → Lima Track.

Does it record with the screen locked?

Yes. While a recording runs, iOS shows the location indicator, and the Lock Screen shows a Live Activity with time and distance. Recording stops only when you stop it.

The app was closed during an activity.

If iOS ended Lima Track or it crashed, the next launch asks whether to continue the activity (within 30 minutes) or finish it and review what was recorded. The time in between counts as a pause.

How do I add heart rate from my Apple Watch?

Start a workout in the Workout app on your Watch as well. After the activity, Lima Track reads its heart rate from Health; if the Watch synced late, tap Sync Watch data in the activity's details. This needs the Health permission.

Saving

My workout shows twice in Fitness.

If your Apple Watch recorded the same activity, Health keeps both workouts and can't merge them. Lima Track warns you before saving; tap Cancel to keep just the Watch workout (you can still export a file), or delete one of the two in the Health or Fitness app.

How do I get the track into Strava or another app?

On the review screen, tap Export GPX and choose the app or Files in the share sheet. Strava doesn’t pick up workouts other apps save to Health (it imports those of the Apple Watch Workout app): tap Export TCX for Strava, save the file to Files and upload it at strava.com (Upload → File). TCX carries Lima Track’s distance; from a GPX, Strava measures the line itself and gets a little more. TCX has no walk or hike type, so check the type in Strava after uploading a walk or hike. Garmin Connect: tap Export FIT for Garmin Connect, save the file to Files and import it on the Garmin Connect website (Import Data). FIT keeps Lima Track’s distance, the pauses and the walk or hike type; Strava takes FIT files too. Other apps that read workouts from Health may import it from there.

I started a walk but ran. Can I change the type?

When your pace says you ran rather than walked (or the other way round), the review screen offers to change the type. If the activity is already saved to Health, save it again (Replace in Health) so Fitness shows the new type too.

How do I delete an activity?

Swipe it left in History, or use Delete activity in its details. If it was saved to Health, you can delete it there too or keep the Health workout.

Lima Track Pro

What needs a subscription?

Recording and the review screen are open to everyone, and so is saving the GPS track as your phone recorded it: to Apple Health or as a GPX, TCX or FIT file. Saving the rebuilt track, No track or the GPS track without its lost and spoofed parts needs a Lima Track Pro subscription. It covers every activity, including ones you recorded before subscribing.

How do trials and introductory prices work?

The subscription screen in the app shows the current plans, their prices in your currency and any free trial or introductory price, as the App Store offers them. Nothing is charged during a free trial; cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you won't be charged. The App Store gives one trial or introductory price per Apple Account, so after using it on one plan the others start at their regular price.

How do I cancel or change my plan?

In Lima Track, Settings → Lima Track Pro → Manage subscription, or in the iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions. If you cancel, Lima Track Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Activities already saved to Health stay there.

I subscribed on another phone, or reinstalled the app.

Settings → Lima Track Pro → Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account. There's no Lima Track account to sign in to.

Reporting a problem

In the app, open Settings → Report a problem, describe what happened and send. The report includes the device model, iOS and app version and your settings, nothing about where you were. You can attach the raw data of one activity, which helps a lot with GPS problems but contains the places you were. See the privacy policy.
